Utopia: Catching Sunlight is a Common Practice
for Bernadette Mayer

People take value in education. And pride in the beauty and differences of each other. With everyone working toward a common goal there is honesty and love. A passion for each other. One woman's struggle is another's problem to solve.
The water is clean. Leaves and other greens of nature are the only things left on the ground. Building has stopped; for we have realized that all we need already exists.
A push for real democracy and liberation. Innovation by means of appreciation. When the sun is out, no artificial light is used. Catching sunlight is a common practice.
People think about breathing, and know that they are alive. Realize that only they can really hurt themselves, hurt each other.
There is no fear of what is true, that which is a natural process. People look each other in the eyes, because that is the first step of connection.

Catching sunlight is a common practice.
In old pickle jars, or brown paper bags, it's a child's trade.
The jar flickers, dims: hesitation.
All building has stopped.
Kept on the dining table, our sun,
A true teller of our emotions.
It's a child's trade, a passion for each other.
Catching sunlight is a common practice.

A true teller of leaves and other greens.
A letter boy from a truer time.
We hold hands and smile at strangers.
It's a child's trade.
We walk by foot and catch our bounty.
Building has stopped.

Hold hands and smile,
All we need already exists.
